Pakistan: The most miserable place on Earth
Pakistan has got to be the most miserable country to live in. Keeping in touch with news emanating from that country drenches your heart. You are driven to think extreme thoughts and inclined to take extreme measures to assuage the situation before you realize you have absolutely no power to change any thing. The injustices, brutality, and morbid lawlessness emerges a clear winner every time. It seems if you want to witness the conditions close to doomsday as described by our prophet, you simply need to look at Pakistan.
The powerful and mighty are not punished for their crimes. The innocent and weak are punished for crimes they may or may not have committed. People are enslaved, physically and mentally abused, raped, pillaged and there is no recourse. If you are an active military man or his family, you can do any thing you want and know that no body can ever bring you to justice. If you have a gun, you become a god in your mind inviting wrath on your self and your nation as a result. I wonder if God's patience runs out one day and he destroys the country and every one in it to teach us a lesson.
It seems that's all we can hope for. Pleading to the government or police will never bring justice as we have seen over the years. Fighting for democracy and human rights seems almost a lost cause since the overwhelming majority of the population is not concerned about these issues. People are selfish, materialistic, self-serving bigots. There are a few honest, God-fearing people strewn about but they have no voice and no standing in a culture of greed, conceit, self-promotion. I have a feeling God has so far spared us from total destruction because of those noble people who must exist in the land though I have been unfortunate not to witness a whole lot of them yet.
The chaos is increasing. With time, any semblance of justice and order has left our society. It is frightening especially since this chaos so closely resembles the chaos expected in the end times. Are we in the end times? Why do we not take heed then? When we read the Quran, don't we see we are in so much trouble? If we know that the world is about to end, it won't be long before all our wealth and power will be gone and we will be standing in a sea of countless humans begging God to forgive us for our sins. When we kill, maim, torture people.. when we take bribes, disrespect human life and property, propel ourselves to power using unethical means, are willing to do whatever it takes to accumulate more wealth and trample on as many people as we have to become higher in our social standing and power over others... when we are like that, should we expect God to accept us into paradise just because we were born in a Muslim household and we proclaim our faith in God and His messenger. That wouldn't be just. God is not unjust. I cannot imagine all these people being pardoned by God. There has to be justice. And I don't see justice coming from the government or the will of the people. I guess I am waiting for justice from God. Ameen.
